Learning to enjoy a slower pace at home

I started changing my room almost a year ago, beginning with one plant and a small wooden shelf. At first I treated the space as temporary and never bothered making it feel finished. Looking back, that was why it never felt quite right.

I tried several arrangements before finding one that worked. Pots moved from the window to the shelf, books became little stands and a trailing plant finally softened the corner. The experiments that looked imperfect taught me more than copying a finished room ever could.

"Home projects stopped feeling like a waiting room the day I stopped scheduling my life around the idea that it would end soon."

Some evenings now begin with watering the plants and putting everything back in place. It is a small reset that makes the room feel calm, useful and personal without needing an expensive redesign.

The shelf will probably keep changing as the plants grow and I find new books or objects. I have stopped rushing to finish it. Letting the space evolve slowly is what makes it feel like mine.
